Chelsea and Tottenham go head-to-head in a London derby to contest for silverware in the Capital One Cup final this evening.
Chelsea will be out for revenge against their opponents today, after conceding five goals on New Year’s Day in an unforgettable 5-3 defeat. Tottenham, on the other hand, are looking to cause an upset and please their fans with a rare piece of silverware.
In recent history, Chelsea are at an advantage and have won three of the previous six meetings, with Spurs only win coming this year and the remaining two games ending in draws.
Containing the dangerous Harry Kane will likely be a big part of Jose Mourinho’s game plan, with the young English star scoring 22 goals this season, including an unforgettable brace in the win earlier this year.
In team news, Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic will not be available due to suspension and John Obi Mikel is a doubt due to an injury.
Tottenham, however, will have a full squad available.
Given that it is a final, the statistics, the history and the quality of the players count for nothing. And, ultimately, the result will come down to which team can keep their composure in the hunt for this season’s first piece of major silverware.
