Southampton will be hoping to take advantage of Manchester United’s loss and jump into third place with a win as they play host to seventh place Liverpool today.
The game is scheduled for 6:15pm.
The previous match, on the opening weekend of the season, saw Liverpool emerge as winners in aa match that ended 2-1, but Southampton have grown a lot as a team since then and will be hoping to end a nine match undefeated streak for the Reds.
Liverpool have kept a clean sheet in each of their last four away games in the Premier League.
Brad Jones, Lucas and Steven Gerrard are all out injured for Liverpool, while Jon Flanagan has failed a fitness test.
Southampton have a long list of absentees, including Morgan Schneiderlin, Jay Rodriguez, Shane Long, Emmanuel Mayuka and Toby Alderweireld, who are all out injured. Ryan Bertrand is also out through suspension.
Daniel Sturridge, who scored in the last game between these two, will be hoping to build upon his two goals in six appearances and find the back of the net to help his team to victory.
The last six games between these teams have resulted in a share of three victories apiece for both teams.
