The English side have been quiet in the transfer market so far, with reports indicating they could struggle to secure targets such as Jadon Sancho and Paulo Dybala after missing out on UEFA Champions League qualification.
Meanwhile, Swansea City winger Daniel James was understood to be close to joining Old Trafford, according to Sky Sports.
It was believed that United already agreed to a £15 million (R278 million) fee with Swansea for the 21-year-old, who scored five goals and assisted in another 10 strikes this season.
James even reportedly already agreed personal terms with the Red Devils, with Ole Gunnar Solkskjaer understood to be keen to make him his first signing for the new campaign.
However, two days ago James’ father sadly passed away, which could hold up the move of United’s target.
James' father sadly died suddenly at the age of 60 this week, with United giving his family enough time and space to deal with the bereavement before completing the transfer, DailyMail reports.
The 21-year-old’s transfer to Old Trafford was expected to be completed this week, but he and his family will be given as much time as they need.
The winger has also pulled out of Wales’ squad for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Croatia and Hungary.
We, at Soccer Laduma, send our condolences to the family and friends of James following the sad passing of his father.
