Zaha opened up about the rumours during an Instagram Live chat with his former teammate, saying he did not know how to handle the situation, and that no one from the club helped him.
Ferdinand has now admitted he should have done more to help his young teammate at the time, and questioned his former club too.
"Wilfried Zaha was mishandled by #MUFC I believe… although the club had started a big transition & as a Snr player I should have done more to help him," he tweeted.

Zaha, who represents Ivory Coast at international level, made only four appearances for United, and was loaned back to Crystal Palace and to Cardiff City before eventually leaving Old Trafford.
