Manchester United are said to have earmarked an African Premier League star as a replacement for midfielder Ander Herrera, who is reportedly Paris Saint-Germain-bound.
The Red Devils took to their official Twitter account on Saturday to announce that Herrera will leave the club upon the expiration of his contract at the end of the current campaign.
According to the Daily Mail, Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye, who was previously the subject of reported interest from PSG, is said to be the latest player on United's transfer radar as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to revamp his squad for next season.
It has been claimed the Senegal international is keen to leave the Toffees, but with three years left on his current contract, the Merseyside outfit will look to fetch about £40 million (R738 million) for the 29-year-old.
With Gueye being a French speaker, a move to Ligue 1 champions PSG appeared likely, but with United having made their intentions on roping in a replacement for Herrera clear, a move to Old Trafford could well be on the cards for the former LOSC Lille star.
With United's Paul Pogba having enjoyed unheralded success alongside France defensive midfielder N'Golo Kante at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the possible acquisition of Gueye could also be viewed as a means to get the best out of the former Juventus star.
