Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's main target remains Jadon Sancho, but the Borussia Dortmund winger will require a fee of £100 million (R2.1 billion), which seems unrealistic in the current economic climate.
As a consequence, United will try to raise some funds in the market and also free up their wage bill a bit, according to The Independent.
It is claimed that selling Alexis Sanchez is the club's top priority. The Chilean, who still has two more years on his contract with the Mancunians, earns £400 000 (R8.4 million) a week, and United are still paying him £175 000 (R3.7 million) weekly during his loan spell with Inter Milan.
The Serie A side, though, have indicated their desire to make his loan deal permanent, but it remains to be seen whether or not the two teams can agree a transfer.
In addition, with Chris Smalling on loan at AS Roma, the Giallorossi are believed to be keen on buying him permanently, and United are happy to sell him too.
Other players said to be on Red Devils' exit list are Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo – whose loan stint with Estudiantes ended on 30 June – Jesse Lingard and Diogo Dalot.
Solskjaer reportedly wants to bring in another centre-back as well as a forward, in addition to Sancho, in what could be a busy transfer window for the Red Devils.
