Premier League giants Manchester United are said to be "in talks" with a Real Madrid player, who could join the club in the next window.
The Red Devils, who are understood to be on the lookout for new faces to help get them back to former glories, are one of the teams believed to interested in James Rodriguez.
The attacking midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at Real Madrid, and his contract expires in June 2021. As a consequence, Los Blancos will be keen to sell him for a reasonable fee once the next window opens in order to prevent losing him for free after paying €75 million (R1.5 billion) to secure his services in 2014.
United have opened talks with Rodriguez's agent, according to AS, while Juventus, Napoli and Everton are also said to be interested in the Colombian.
"James is big enough to make his own decision now. If it was me, I'd be running away from Madrid," his agent Jorge Mendes told Colombian radio station Caracol Radio, as cited by The Sun.
"He's good enough to play for any team, I wouldn't doubt for an instant. He's a great player, he's already proved it.
"He can start for any other team, he's got the quality to play anywhere in the world."
The 28-year-old was reportedly close to joining Napoli ahead of this campaign, but the Serie A side wanted a loan deal with an option to buy, while Real insisted on a permanent sale.
At Everton, he could link up with his former coach Carlo Ancelotti, under whom he experienced his best spell at the Santiago Bernabeu.
