The Norwegian tactician is overseeing his best run as the Red Devils coach, having now gone 14 games without a defeat.
Ahead of his side's match against Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday, Solskjaer seemingly confirmed that starlet Angel Gomes, whose contract expires on 30 June, will leave the club.
"I've got no news, nothing, so it doesn't look like (he will stay)," he said at a press conference on Monday, as quoted by ESPN.
"I've not heard from them last night or this morning. It seems like they haven't managed to agree so the answer is probably short and yes (he will leave)."
Gomes has made six appearances for United's first team this season, but refused a contract extension earlier in the campaign.
The 19-year-old has been linked with a move to Chelsea, who are understood to be keen on snapping him up for free, while FC Barcelona have reportedly also monitored his situation.
Gomes would be the second youngster with first-team experience to leave United on a free deal after the club announced that Cameron Borthwick-Jackson's contract would not be extended in the past few days.
