Despite Jose Mourinho seemingly being an unpopular figure in the Manchester United dressing room, one Red Devils star has explained why the Portuguese manager will always have a special place in his heart.
The Portuguese tactician had a hard time getting along with certain senior players during his time with the 20-time English champions, and was believed to have had several fallouts with some of the club's stars.
However, Scott McTominay, who made his United debut under Mourinho, feels differently to some of his colleagues, insisting he owes a lot to his former boss.
"Jose is very special to me," he told Sky Sports News.
"He still keeps in contact with me now and keeps in touch after some games.
"He'll always have a special place in mine and my family's heart because he's the one who brought you in, he was the one who trusted you, he was the one who had belief in you.
"I owe a tremendous amount of credit to him because if it wasn't for him, I might not necessarily be sitting in this seat."
Mourinho was fired as United manager in December 2018, after winning three trophies in two years.
McTominay, 22, has since established himself as a regular in United's first team, having represented the club on 56 occasions since 2017.
