Having played alongside some of the most talented footballers in the Premier League, a Manchester United star has now picked who he thinks is the best player to have played in England's top flight, and it's not one of his current teammates.
Juan Mata is a veteran of the Premier League, having made more than 250 appearances with Chelsea and United, and the 31-year-old has now named former Blues teammate Eden Hazard as the competition's best player.
"The best Premier League player? I mean, I used to love to play with, and against, Eden Hazard," Mata told Manchester United's official website.
"For me, for many years, he was the best in the league. He could win games by himself. I used to train with him and I know how good he can be.
"He has been very unlucky in his time with Real Madrid with some injuries, but I'm sure he'll show his real level when he's fit to do that and he's not injured.
"Other than him, we've had many players. You can speak about the history of the Premier League and you can maybe put some of my ex-teammates like Wayne Rooney – he has to be up there.
"Ryan Giggs has to be up there, and Paul Scholes. My ex-teammates from Chelsea (too), (Frank) Lampard, (John) Terry, (Didier) Drogba. It's very difficult to pick one."
Hazard, who joined Real Madrid for a fee of €100 million (R1.9 billion) at the beginning of the season, scored 85 goals and recorded a further 61 assists in 245 league appearances during his time at Stamford Bridge, winning two league titles along the way.
