After recently signalling his intent to return to management, Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho has claimed he did not get the credit he deserved for his achievements at Manchester United.
Despite being the most successful United manager since Sir Alex Ferguson, many fans were happy to see the back of Mourinho when he was fired in December last year.
The Portuguese tactician won three trophies as United boss, something neither David Moyes nor Louis van Gaal were able to do, but was relieved of his duties after some poor results and performances last season.
Despite the circumstances around his departure from the club, Mourinho feels he deserves far more credit than he has got for his stint with the Red Devils, especially for finishing behind Manchester City in the 2017/18 campaign.
"I can just say that the Manchester United time was not an easy time," he told Sky Sports.
"I always felt that to win the Europa League was fantastic and it didn't look like it was, the way people approach it.
"To finish second was even more than that (success), so probably I was feeling a little bit like: 'Wow, I'm working well, I'm giving everything and I'm not getting what I think that deserves'.
"The only thing I can promise you is that when I have the next club, the next project, I will be so, so happy that I will walk into that press conference with a big smile. That I can promise."
