With Jose Mourinho having a history of rubbing players up the wrong way, a Manchester United star has now revealed how a string of harsh words made him determined to prove the former Red Devils boss wrong.
Mourinho spent two-and-a-half seasons with United, during which he guided the club to League Cup and UEFA Europa League titles, but was ultimately sacked in December 2018 after a poor start to the campaign.
However, France forward Anthony Martial has now revealed how the former Chelsea boss got the best out of him, even if it meant getting criticised publicly.

"It's true that I'd have preferred it if he'd told me directly, there's no need to say it in front of everybody," Martial told RMC Sport.
"After that, you definitely want to prove him wrong. He didn't start me during the first few games and each time I came on, I scored.
"In the end, he told me: 'You see, now you understand what I wanted'. It can get to you. You just want to show him you deserve to be on the pitch."
After a brief hiatus from the game, Mourinho returned to football in November last year when he was appointed as the new head coach of Tottenham Hostpur.
