Arsenal & Aubameyang Pile More Misery On Man Utd

English Premier League

Result: Manchester United 0-1 Arsenal

Date: 01 November 2020

Venue: Old Trafford

Arsenal claimed their first Premier League win at Old Trafford in 14 years with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday night.

United had the first opportunity of the game when Marcus Rashford played a sumptuous ball around the back of Arsenal defender Rob Holding to the back post for Mason Greenwood, who let fly with his left foot from an acute angle bringing a good save out of Bernd Leno with his legs.

Arsenal were the side making more of the play and almost broke the deadlock when Willian played the ball down the side for Bellerin, who fizzed the ball into the box but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang just couldn't get on the end of it.

In the 39th minute, Willian and Aubameyang exchanged passes on the edge of the area, with the latter flicking a pass towards the Brazilian, who curled a left-footed shot towards the far post which clipped the top of the bar before going over.

The Gunners were bossing possession and had another superb opportunity to take the lead in the 44th minute when Hector Bellerin whipped a delightful ball in to the box which an unmarked Bukayo Saka headed inches wide when he should have hit the back of the net.

In the second half it was United who were dominating possession but the visitors had the first opportunity of the second period. Alexandre Lacazette dispossessed Fred and then slid in Aubameyang, who ran round the pass and then attempted to curl one into the far corner past De Gea but it just went the wrong side of the post.

Arsenal won a penalty in the 68th minute when Paul Pogba clipped the back of Bellerin's ankles as the full-back looked to get on the end of Willian's throughball and Aubameyang sent De Gea the wrong way, ending a run of five Premier League games without a goal.

The hosts were pressing hard for an equaliser and with five minutes to go of regular time Donny van de Beek's shot deflected off Mohamed Elneny and came off the face of Bernd Leno, on to the bar and out to safety with the Arsenal keeper knowing very little about it as Arsenal held on for the three points.
