The Red Devils are yet to make a January signing, while Los Blancos have confirmed the acquisition of Brazil wonderkid Reinier on Monday.
Netherlands star Donny van de Beek has been linked with both clubs, although he will not leave Ajax Amsterdam this month.
A report by De Telegraaf suggested that the 22-year-old attacking midfielder had already signed for the Spanish giants, who reportedly agreed a €55 million (R889 million) fee with his current employers.
However, the player has now rubbished those claims, saying he is still undecided about his future.
"Nothing is official. I have not signed any contract. That is the situation. That has not changed throughout the season," Van de Beek said, as quoted by AS.

When asked which team between United and Real he would prefer to join, the Dutchman refused to commit to either club.
"I don't want to choose. They are both great clubs. As I said before, Ajax is too. Therefore, there is nothing to choose from. All of them would very good options," he added.
