Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has made a strange admission regarding Kylian Mbappe's future at the French giants amid rumours linking the wonderkid with Real Madrid.
Mbappe joined the Ligue 1 champions from AS Monaco permanently in July 2018 after spending the 2017/18 season on loan in Paris.
The 2018/19 campaign was the best in his career to date, with the striker being named the Ligue 1 Player of the Season after scoring 33 goals and assisting another nine strikes in 29 appearances.
At that awards gala, Mbappe shocked many when he stated he wants more responsibility as a player and maybe needs to find a new project.
His fine performances saw him being linked with Spanish giants Real, but Los Blancos seem to have focused on other signings in this window after PSG president Nasser El Khelaifi insisted Mbappe is not for sale.
However, new sporting director Leonardo has now opened the door to a future exit for the player, saying he cannot promise that the 20-year-old superstar will extend his current deal with the club.
"Extending him or not is not a question. I never make promises. For two reasons: firstly, I do not do everything at this club. Secondly, I do not want to pluck promises out of thin air without being certain that I can deliver on them," he told Le Parisien, as cited by ESPN.
Leonardo, though, also insisted he is not worried about Mbappe's future at the club, saying the 2018 Fifa World Cup winner is happy in Paris.
"The only thing that interests me is the concrete, today," he added.
"There is no question of whether or not a contract extension for Kylian is a priority or not. He is here, which is very important for the club, so there is no debate.
"When training resumed on Monday, he arrived with a superb attitude, smiling, as always. He is charismatic, people love him very much. It is important to have a player like him in the squad, young and smiling."
