Despite injuries to key players, former FC Barcelona and current Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar has backed the Ligue 1 giants to secure their maiden UEFA Champions League title this season.
The Brazil talisman has been sidelined with a metatarsal injury for the second successive year after having sustaining the injury in Les Parisiens' Coupe de France victory over Strasbourg in January.
The world's most expensive player saw his team secure a 2-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 clash this week, and has since commented on the possibility of the Parisian outfit winning the prized club competition this year, despite recent injuries to key players such as Edinson Cavani and Thomas Meunier.
"PSG will be Champions League champion," Neymar said in an interview with Red Bull.
"PSG is not just about me – it has an awesome team with great athletes and a genius coach.
"Besides, the PSG fans are like a 12th player when we are playing in Paris. I have no doubts that we will be champions and that I will be playing."
The 27-year-old also spoke about his continuing recovery, and hinted at a possible return before the conclusion of the 2018/19 Champions League campaign.
"The treatment has just begun," he added.
"It will be a long journey and I will have little victories day by day. Thank God I have great professionals by my side and the support of PSG as well as the support from fans all over the world.
"I have played football since I was a little child so, yes, it's very hard to be away from football, from the club's routine and from the fans' warmth.
"In 2018, I faced something similar and I know how bad it is, but that experience made me stronger and more prepared to face what's coming now."
Since completing a staggering €222 million (R3.4 billion) move from Barcelona to PSG in 2017, Neymar has racked up a total of 53 games for Les Parisiens, finding the back of the net on 48 occasions and being on hand to register 27 assists.
