Neymar Blasted For Paris Saint-Germain No-Show
A former FC Barcelona player has launched a scathing attack on Neymar after the Brazilian failed to pitch up for Paris Saint-Germain's title celebrations.
The 26-year-old, who is still in his home country recuperating from a foot injury, did not travel to Paris to watch his team thrash Ligue 1 rivals Monaco 7-1 on Sunday, which handed them another famous league title.
Christophe Dugarry, who played for Barcelona and AC Milan, and also won the World Cup with France in 1998, has since slammed the world's most expensive player.
"How could Neymar not be with his teammates when the title was at stake?" Dugarry said in an interview on French radio station RMC Sport.
"How can we call Neymar the leader of the team when he didn't come back and share this moment with them? How is it possible that PSG can accept this? How can Neymar look his teammates in the eye again after behaving in this way?
"He is spitting on the club. I think it's barbaric. If he were at Barca, he would have returned without any problem. If I was a PSG player, I'd be raging.
"I can't stand these players who are constantly navel-gazing. This is a team sport, and it is the collective that wins games, not individuals. If we think that PSG can win the Champions League with attitudes like this, we're having a laugh."
Neymar is hoping to recover from his injury in time for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
