PSG retained largely the same side that clinched the title in a draw against Lens, except for two new additions in midfield, Danilo Pereira and Juan Bernat, as the front three of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe continued.
Strasbourg had a perfect start after Kevin Gameiro gave them the lead in the second minute with a strike from a tight angle at the near post after latching onto a through ball by Lucas Perrin.
Mauricio Pochettino's charges struggled to find their rhythm but they eventually equalised in the 23rd minute from a counter-attack after Mbappe notched his 23rd league goal with a strike between the legs of shot-stopper Metz Sels from Neymar's threaded pass.
The game opened up in the latter phase of the first stanza as both sides created chances but they lacked the finishing touches, although Messi was particularly quiet for the visitors.
Sparks continued to fly in the opening exchanges of the second stanza and PSG were more clinical in front of goal, as Achraf Hakimi gave them a 2-1 lead in the 64th minute with a strike into the top corner after a through ball by Mbappe.
Strasbourg shot themselves in the foot four minutes later after Mbappe intercepted Alexander Djiku's poor back pass to go clear on goal, made it 3-1 for the visitors and grabbed his brace with a strike into the bottom corner.
Julen Stephan's men picked themselves up as they reduced the deficit to just one goal behind PSG 15 minutes before time after Habib Diallo's header came of Marco Verratti's knee and sailed into his own net from a corner.
Strasbourg had chances to snatch the equaliser in the dying minutes and got their reward when substitute Anthony Caci got the leveller in stoppage time with a header in the box from a delightful cross, as the encounter finished all square.
