Result: Paris Saint-Germain 7-1 AS Monaco
Date: 15 April 2018
Venue: Parc de Princes
Paris Saint-Germain, who were without Neymar, were crowned Ligue 1 champions after humiliating former champions AS Monaco 7-1 at the Parc de Princes.
Monaco entered the clash in second and still with a slim, yet mathematical chance of overhauling PSG, but were thoroughly outclassed as Les Parisians wrapped up the French league title with five games to spare.
Edinson Cavani should have given PSG the lead after 10 minutes but he somehow volleyed wide from six-yards out.
The hosts were in front four minutes later when Giovani Lo Celso slotted home from close range after a superb passing move, 1-0.
The lead was doubled three minutes later when Cavani made up for his earlier miss by turning home Yuri Berchiche's cross.
Unai Emery's charges bagged a third goal on the 20-minute mark as Cavani turned provider to play in Angel Di Maria, who sent a cheeky lob over Danijel Subasic.
It was 4-0 just before the 30-minute mark Lo Celso grabbed his second on the night by heading home Javier Pastore's cross.
Monaco did managed to pull a goal back six minutes before the break when Rony Lopes turned home Almamy Touré's cross.
After a quiet opening to the second period, PSG sprung into life and bagged a fifth goal in the 58th minute with Di Maria netting his second of the night.
It got worse for Monaco as they conceded a sixth with 12 minutes remaining, with Radamel Falcao deflecting the ball into his own net.
Julian Draxler rounded off the scoring for PSG in the 86th minute, with German attacker turning home Thomas Munier's cross.
That proved to be the final goal of the match as PSG secured the league title in emphatic fashion against last season's winners.
