Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe has responded to the comparisons being made between him and Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.
The 22-year-old France sensation has established himself as one of Europe's best young players, having already scored 179 career goals for club and country.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has thus drawn comparisons with Haaland, who burst on to the scene in the past couple of years and has scored 57 goals in 59 appearances since joining Dortmund in January 2020.
Both forwards netted more than 40 goals each this past season, but Mbappe has now played down the comparisons with the 2020 Golden Boy winner.
"You do always compare yourself with the best in your sport, just as the baker compares himself with the best bakers around him," the French striker told GQ magazine.
"Who makes the best croissant, the best pain au chocolate?
"I watch matches of other great players to see what they're doing. 'I know how to do this, but can the other guy do it too?' I think other players watch me, too.
"I think that pushes players to raise their game, just as Messi was good for Ronaldo and Ronaldo was good for Messi."
