Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has explained why has he struggled to sleep since losing to Manchester United, and also addressed his playing future after his club crashed out of the UEFA Champions League.
The 20-year-old has been PSG's standout performer so far this season, but could not prevent their 3-3 aggregate loss (via the away goal rule) to United in the Champions League round of 16 last Wednesday.
He has revealed that he has struggled to sleep since the 3-1 home defeat, which saw them give up a 2-0 lead from the first leg, and apologised to fans for "spoiling the party".
"I am stunned – there are no words," he told TF1's Telefoot, as cited by ESPN.
"I have not been able to sleep, and I think it has been the same for everybody else. It is difficult. We worked hard to reach that point and now we are out.
"We are disappointed. Football goes on. We will try to rally and finish the season.
"Honestly, it was our goal – we were working towards it each day. The supporters were with us too. The stadium was full, the fans did their job and got behind us – it was a truly magical atmosphere and we spoiled the party.
"We did not want to ruin it, but we did."
However, despite Les Parisiens' somewhat surprising elimination for the UCL, Mbappe also insisted he will not leave the club after the current campaign.
"I am sure to be here next season," he added.
"With or without what just happened, it was already set.
"With all of the problems that this elimination will cause, it is pointless adding my personal situation to that. This way, it is clear and accurate."
Mbappe has scored 29 goals and assisted another 15 strikes in 33 appearances for PSG so far this season.
