Superstar Kylian Mbappe has been accused of not being honest about his future amid strong speculation linking him with Zinedine Zidane's Real Madrid.
With the forward's contract in France expiring in 2022, Paris Saint-Germain are understood to be eager to tie him down to a new deal.
Sporting director Leonardo has previously stated he is confident he and the club will find a solution over Mbappe's future, particularly amid rumours he has one eye on Los Blancos.
Speaking about the situation recently, ex-PSG star Jerome Rothen suggested that he would like Mbappe to be more open about what could happen next, saying he feels the player has been a little misleading while stalling on contract talks.
"It is complicated. We are not in his head and he has personal goals and desires," he told Parisfans.fr.
Where does Mbappe feature among the highest-paid players at PSG? Have a look below!
"Is he convinced to stay at PSG? I don't think so, since otherwise his contract would have already been extended.
"I think he felt that his future lay elsewhere. It is not a criticism, he has the right to think like that. I have the impression that he sometimes hides certain truths.
"It feels like he's not being direct and I don't like that very much. Because it means that you are an opportunist, that your goal was to go to Real Madrid, but given the financial context of Madrid, you can't anymore. That's not very honest.
"My message to him is 'be clearer'. The club will continue with or without him."
Mbappe has scored 26 goals and assisted a further nine strikes in 34 games for the Ligue 1 champions so far this season.
