Result: Paris Saint-Germain 4-1 Saint-Etienne
Date: 25 October 2015
Venue: Parc des Princes
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edison Cavani were among the goals as Paris Saint-Germain thumped Saint-Etienne 4-1 at Parc des Princes on Sunday night.
Ibrahimovic was presented with a chance after nine minutes when he was played through on goal by Angel Di Maria, however the striker was thwarted by Stephane Ruffier.
Valentin Eysseric went close handing the visitors the lead two minutes later, as the midfielder turned well, before firing into the side-netting.
PSG eventually broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute via a composed finish from Layvin Kurzawa, which Ruffier struggled to get a hand to.
Ruffier then came to the visitors' rescue in the 42nd minute as the goalkeeper, pulled off a fine save to deny Edison Cavani from point-blank range.
Cavani was not to be denied shortly after the halftime break, as the Uruguayan turned home a cross from Ibrahimovic at the far post to double PSG's lead.
It was Ibrahimovic's turn to get on the score-sheet in the 67th minute, as Di Maria played in Cavani, who in turn laid the ball off for the Swedish striker to tap home from close range.
Saint-Etienne managed to reduced the deficit in the 73rd minute, when Marquinhos' clearance took a big deflection off Marco Verratti and sailed into the back of the net.
The defending champions were not done there, as Lucas headed home Verratti's cross at the back post to round off an impressive victory.
The win sees Laurent Blanc's men restore their seven-point lead at the top of the Ligue 1 standings after 11 games.
