French Ligue 1
Result: Nice 1-2 Paris Saint-Germain
Date: 18 March 2018
Venue: Allianz Riviera
Paris Saint-Germain came from behind to defeat Mario Balotelli's Nice 2-1 thanks to goals from Angel Di Maria and Dani Alves on Sunday afternoon.
Balotelli nearly opened the scoring for Nice in the seventh minute but his header hit the post.
It was the home side who took the lead in the 17th minute as Allan Saint-Maximin finished off a well-worked counter attack.
However, the Parisians replied four minutes later through a counter-attack of their own after Yuri won the ball in midfield and teed up Di Maria, who made it 1-1 with a close-range finish.
The chances were hard to come by as the half-time break drew close. Nice were doing a good job of frustrating PSG as the half ended one apiece.
Saint-Maximin almost got his second goal for Nice five minutes into the second stanza after he was sent through by Balotelli but PSG goalkeeper Alphonse Areola made a great stop.
Balotelli, who was lively for the hosts, unleashed a powerful strike in the 65th minute from just outside the box but PSG’s Areola was equal to the task.
Unai Emery’s charges took the lead seven minutes before time after Adrien Rabiot picked out Alves, who managed to find the back of the net.
The goal knocked the stuffing out of Nice, who never looked like coming back after a sluggish second stanza compared to the first.
