Former Monaco, Marseille and Lyon attacker Sonny Anderson is third on the list with 119 strikes, while Bafetimbi Gomis, who has made the most Ligue 1 appearances out of all the players in the top 10, is second with 122 goals.
The leading scorer in Ligue 1's history is PSG legend and former Portugal international Pauleta, who hit the back of the net on 141 occasions, although his record could be beaten if Cavani is still playing in France next season.
Former Lorient, Toulouse and Marseille striker Andre-Pierre Gignac has 103 Ligue 1 goals to his name, while Mamadou Niang and Alexandre Lacazette are both on 100 strikes each.
At ninth and 10th on the list are Lilian Laslandes and Djibril Cisse, who both scored 95 times in Ligue 1.
