After falling short in their league performances this season, Zidane might have thought the Copa del Rey was a great chance for Los Blancos to win silverware, but it was not to be.
Real suffered a 2-1 loss at home to Leganes on Wednesday, and the Frenchman was quick to admit afterwards that the defeat was a massive disappointment.
"Yes, it's a failure for me, clearly," he said, according to Marca.
"Yes, I feel very responsible. We didn't play the game, especially in the first half, after winning a complicated game away. We didn't play well enough today, we didn't play how we had to play. We can say what we want but it's very hard, it's a difficult night for everyone.
"We will look at the situation and I will first because I am to blame. We can't change things, there were 90 minutes to do that and we didn't. Now we have to think about tomorrow, to get up and keep working because on Saturday there is another game."
Zidane was also asked if he feels his job is in jeopardy.
"That is clear, I am responsible for this," he added.
"I'm the one who has to find solutions for the team to be more efficient."
Real will play three LaLiga games, against Valencia, Levante and Real Sociedad, before the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 against Paris Saint-Germain at the Santiago Bernabeu.
