The 41-year-old was recently announced as Ronald Koeman's successor by president Joan Laporta, who organised for Xavi to be unveiled at the Camp Nou on Monday afternoon.

Speaking at his official presentation, Xavi enthusiastically discussed his vision for the future and insisted that his side will not just be required to win, but to win playing well.

Thousands of supporters turned out to witness the legendary midfielder's return after he spent the past six years at Al-Sadd in Qatar.

The Spaniard first joined that club in 2015 as a player before eventually hanging up his boots two years ago.

Upon his retirement, Xavi was appointed as the Qatari club's first-team boss and went on to claim an impressive seven titles across all competitions with his possession-obsessed philosophy of football.

While it is perhaps easy to get caught up in the romanticism of his return, he has inherited a team that has been underperforming for some time when compared to the Barcelona sides he represented.

Xavi therefore seemingly felt it is necessary to introduce 10 strict rules, according to Spanish publication AS, that he believes will help raise the standards at the LaLiga giants.

Here are the rules Xavi is said to have introduced at Barca

  2. Barcelona staff should arrive two hours before training starts
  3. All players must eat at the club's training ground
  4. Fines are back
  5. Fines will be doubled each time for the same misdemeanour
  6. All players must be home before midnight two days before a match
  7. All players should give it all they have got in training
  8. Players' activities outside the pitch will be monitored
  9. Activities considered "risky" will not be tolerated
  10. Players must maintain a good image
