Gareth Bale was a notable absentee for Real Madrid's title celebrations on Saturday night, but it has now revealed why he was not there.
Los Blancos wrapped up their 35th LaLiga with a 4-0 thrashing of Espanyol at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday night.
The team were given the trophy after the encounter and celebrated at the Bernabeu before they embarked on the bus around the Spanish capital.
However, the Welshman was nowhere to be seen at the parade or at the stadium on Saturday night as he is nearing a departure at the end fo the season.
It has now been revealed that Bale withdrew from the squad on Saturday due to a back spasm and was unable to join his teammates in the celebration.
"CAMPEONES. So disappointed that I’m not able to be part of the celebrations this evening due to a bad back spasm but really proud of the team for winning the title! Enjoy tonight boys!," Bale tweeted.
The last few years has been tough for the Welshman who had a falling out with Zinedine Zidane, while he spent the 2020/21 season on loan at former club Tottenham Hotspur.
The Wales international is expected to bring his nine-year stay in Madrid to an end in June and will leave after a trophy-laden spell after winning four UEFA CHampions League titles and three LaLiga titles.
