The midfielder sent shockwaves throughout the globe when he signed a five-year deal with the LaLiga giants in a staggering deal which could amount to a total of €75 million (R1.16 billion) with €11 million (171 million) being allocated in add-ons.
The deal places De Jong at the summit of the priciest Dutchman in the history of football, which is a far cry from the €300 000 (R4.7 million) paid by Ajax Amsterdam to Willem II for the 21-year-old in 2015.
Second on the list is Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk, who has been a revelation at the Anfield outfit since completing a €84.4m (R1.3 billion) move from fellow Premier League side Southampton in 2018.
Marc Overmars, who currently serves as Ajax Amsterdam's director of football completes the third spot on the list having moved from Ajax to Barcelona for a whopping €40m (R620 million).
