An FC Barcelona superstar has opened up about what it is like to play with Lionel Messi, claiming that the Argentine "knows all types of football and has mastered it to perfection".
Defender Clement Lenglet joined the Blaugrana from Sevilla in July 2018 after the Spanish giants triggered his release clause of €35 million (R480 million), allowing the Frenchman to pen a five-year deal at the Camp Nou.
The former AS Nancy centre-back, who has somewhat impressed in his debut season so far with Barca, spoke about being in the same team as five-time Ballon d'Or winner Messi in an interview recently, and cited his individual brilliance as well as his leadership skills.
"I remember when I first arrived, he said hello, gave me a little hug – I felt immediately at ease," Lenglet told AFP.
"He is a technical leader. On the field he makes the difference so often, in almost every game.
"He's a leader through his experience. He watches football, knows all types of football and has mastered it to perfection.
"There's only one Messi and when he gives advice, you listen."
Messi has played 33 games across all competitions for the Blaugrana so far this season, finding the back of the net on 33 occasions and being on hand to register 18 assists too.
