The Blaugrana reportedly have a salary limit of €671.42 million (R10.09 billion), which is an increase of €38.52 million (R623 million) compared to last year, according to AS.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, follow in close second with a salary limit of €641 million (R10.4 billion), a massive increase of €74.55 million (R1.2 billion).
The gap between the two Spanish giants and the rest of the league is highlighted by the fact that Atletico Madrid follow in third spot with a salary limit of €322.92 million (R5.22 billion), which is less than half of Barcelona's.
The salary limit is the maximum amount that a club can invest in salaries for players, technical team and the rest of the staff, as well as academy players. It includes gross salaries plus bonus payments, acquisition costs (including agent fees) and amortisation expenditures.

Lionel Messi has remained at the top of the bill, pocketing an annual gross salary of €70.76 million (R1.1 billion), according to capology.com. The amount is believed to be the Argentine's salary before taxes (around 52% in Spain), excluding performance-based bonuses and sponsorship income.
Antoine Griezmann follows in second position after putting pen to paper on a five-year contract that will see him earn €45.84 million (R742 million) gross per year.
Real Madrid's new superstar Eden Hazard completes the top three with a gross salary of €31.25 million (R505 million) per annum.
The Blaugrana's Frenkie de Jong and Los Blancos' Luka Jovic, who are both understood to earn €20.83 million (R337 million) a year, are the other two new signings from the recent transfer window among LaLiga's highest-paid players – you can see the complete top 12, including the likes of Gareth Bale, Sergio Ramos and Luis Suarez, in the gallery above!
