France World Cup winner Ousmane Dembele's stunning strike in the second half helped FC Barcelona register a 2-1 win over Sevilla to claim their 13th Spanish Super Cup crown.
It was Sevilla who took the lead after just eight minutes as Lucas Muriel set up Pablo Sarabia, who sent a fine curling effort past Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. The goal was awarded after the referee consulted with the Video Assistant Referee.
Despite dominating the possession, the Catalan giants were finding it tough to break down the Sevilla defence in the opening 20 minutes.
Luis Suarez squandered a glorious chance for Barca after 28 minutes, with the Uruguayan heading over the crossbar from six-yards out after being picked out by Lionel Messi.
The equaliser eventually arrived four minutes before the break as Gerard Pique slotted into an empty net after Messi's free-kick had come off the post.
Ernesto Valverde opted for two changes in the opening seven minutes of the second half as Ivan Rakitic and Philippe Coutinho replaced Rafinha and Arthur.
Sevilla nearly restored their lead just after the hour mark but Franco Vazquez's glancing header shaved the top of the crossbar.
However, Barca took the lead with 12 minutes remaining as Dembele was afford space and time before rifling the ball into the top corner from 20-yards out, leaving goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik with no chance.
With five minutes remaining, Valverde introduced Arturo Vidal for his Barcelona debut, taking the place match-winner Dembele.
Sevilla were then awarded a penalty in the 90th minute when Ter Stegen committed a foul in the box.
However, the Barca shot-stopper made amends as he saved Wissam Ben Yedder's spot-kick to hand Barca the victory.
