Teams: Valencia v Real Madrid
Date: 27 January 2018
Venue: Estadio de Mestalla
Two teams fighting to secure their Champions League spots will face off when Real Madrid visit Valencia at the Mestalla on Saturday.
The match is set to get underway at 17h15.
Few would have guessed at the start of the season that by the time this fixture dawned upon us, Valencia would hold a five-point lead over the European champions — albeit having played one more game.
Los Blancos have endured a torrid campaign, which worsened further in midweek when Leganés knocked them out of the Copa del Rey. By contrast, Los Che have been one of the surprise packages of the season. However, they will be looking to recover from a 2-1 defeat to Las Palmas in their last league game.
Zinedine Zidane finds himself under pressure despite having already picked up two Champions League titles in his first two seasons as Real Madrid manager. A win over a fellow top four side would go some way towards silencing his critics.
His counterpart, Marcelino García Toral, is enjoying a similar honeymoon phase to Zidane’s remarkable period of success prior to this season. A win over Real Madrid would be one of his finest gifts yet.
Here's how they line up:
Valencia: Neto, Montoya, Garay, Coquelin, Lato, Guedes, Kondogbia, Parejo, Gayà, Rodrigo, Mina.
Real: Navas; Carvajal, Varane, Nacho, Marcelo; Modric, Casemiro, Kroos; Bale, Ronaldo, Benzema,
