Teams: Real Madrid vs Deportivo La Coruna
Date: 21 January 2018
Venue: Santiago Bernabeu
Real Madrid will be looking to pick up their first league win of 2018 when they host Deportivo La Coruna at the Bernabéu on Sunday.
The match is scheduled to get underway at 17h15.
Marco Asensio’s late winner gave Los Blancos a 1-0 win over Leganés in their last match — the first leg of their Copa del Rey quarter-final tie. However, they have picked up just a solitary point in their two league games this year, drawing 2-2 with Celta Vigo and crashing to a 1-0 defeat against Villarreal.
The defending Spanish champions have all but fallen out of contention for this season’s La Liga crown, but they have plenty of pride — as well as a Champions League spot — left to play for.
Deportivo are another side who could ill afford to rest on their laurels, as they are in the thick of a relegation scrap. They have gone four games without a win, making them an ideal target for Zinedine Zidane’s charges, who so desperately need one.
However, this La Liga season has showed that anything is possible in football and even the mightiest of teams can stumble against the most unexpected opposition.
Here's how they line up:
Real: Keylor; Carvajal, Varane, Nacho, Marcelo; Casemiro, Modric, Kroos; Bale, Ronaldo; Mayoral
Deportivo: Ruben, Juanfran, Schar, One, Luisinho, Guilherme, Borges, Mosquera, Adrian, Lucas, Andone.
