Sergio Ramos missed a penalty and scored an own goal as Real Madrid suffered a 3-2 loss to Sevilla in LaLiga on Wednesday evening.
Los Blancos were without the services of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Isco and Dani Carvajal for the encounter.
It was the hosts who got off to a better start, with Franco Vazquez causing a number of problems in the final third.
Sevilla were eventually rewarded in the 26th minute as Wissam Ben Yedder latched onto a pass from Luis Muriel before slotting the ball through the legs of Kiko Casilla.
Los Blancos, meanwhile, were struggling to carve out chances in the final third and were restricted to efforts from distance.
It got worse for the visitors on the stroke of half-time as Sevilla doubled their lead thanks to a smashing finish from Miguel Layun that left Casilla with no chance.
Ten minutes into the second half, Los Blancos were awarded a penalty when Lucas Vazquez was brought down by Franco Vazquez. Sergio Ramos stepped up to take the penalty but thumped his effort against the upright.
Zinedine Zidane responded by introducing Borja Mayoral for the in-effective Dani Ceballos with 20 minutes remaining in the half.
Karim Benzema squandered a glorious chance to reduced the deficit when he blazed an effort horribly over the crossbar in the box after 76 minutes.
Sevilla eventually sealed the win in the 84th minute, with Ramos deflecting Gabriel Mercado's cross into his own net.
Real did pull a goal back with two minutes remaining as Mayoral found the back of the net with a composed header from close range.
The visitors were then awarded a second penalty in the fifth minute of time added on. Ramos against stepped up and this time managed to score the spot-kick, although that proved to be the final piece of action of the half as Sevilla held on for three points.
