Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo were back among the goals as Real Madrid came from behind to thump Deportivo La Coruna 7-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Zinedine Zidane opted start Borja Mayoral upfront, while there was also a start for Bale.
Los Blancos struggled to break down the visitors in the opening 20 minutes, although Espanyol were quite happy to sit back.
It was the visitors who broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute when Adrian Lopez turned home Lucas Perez's cross from close range.
However, Los Blancos were level on 32 minutes when Nacho headed home Marcelo's inviting cross.
Real completed the comeback just before the break as Bale curled the ball into the top corner after being picked out by Marcelo.
Los Blancos came out firing in the second stanza, and they managed to bag a third goal in the 58th minute as Bale nodded home Toni Kroos' cross for his second of the game.
10 minutes later, the home side bagged their fourth goal as Ronaldo's flick set up Luka Modric, who fired home from the edge of the box.
Ronaldo managed to get his name on the scoresheet in the 78th minute by getting on the end of Casemiro's cross to convert home from close range, 5-1.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner was not done there as he bagged his second goal in the 84th minute by heading home Lucas' cross.
Four minutes later, Nacho completed his brace with a neat finish at the far post after Deportivo failed to deal with a set-piece, 7-1.
