Spanish LaLiga Report: Real Madrid v Celta Vigo 12 May 2018
Result: Real Madrid 6-0 Celta Vigo
Date: 12 May 2018
Venue: Santiago Bernabeu
Gareth Bale bagged a brace as Real Madrid, who were without Cristiano Ronaldo, thumped Celta Vigo 6-0 in LaLiga on Saturday evening.
Los Blancos came into the clash without the services of Ronaldo, who is recovering from injury, although Isco did return to the side.
Celta Vigo were on the front foot early on and nearly opened the scoring in the ninth minute through Lucas Boye, but Keylor Navas made a great stop.
Four minutes later, Gareth Bale netted for Los Blancos with a close-range finish after being set up by Luka Modric.
Bale got his second goal for Zinedine Zidane’s charges on the half-hour mark after beating his marker on the byline before rifling the ball into the top corner.
Isco made it 3-0 to the home side two minutes later with a wonderful curling strike that found the top corner following good link-up play with Toni Kroos.
Zidane’s men started knocking the ball around with confidence and heads were beginning to drop for Celta Vigo as the hosts took a commanding 3-0 lead into the break.
Right full-back Achraf Hakimi got the fourth goal for Los Blancos seven minutes into the second stanza after finding space on the overlap to fire goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez.
The hosts were running away with the match after the hour mark and it was simply damage limitation for Celta Vigo in the remaining minutes.
However, things went from bad to worse though for the visitors 15 minutes before time as Sergi Gomez turned Marco Asensio’s cross into his own net, 5-0.
Toni Kroos rounded off the scoring for the home side in the closing stages of the second half as Los Blancos proved too strong for Celta Vigo on the night.
