Result: Real Madrid 1-1 Atletico Madrid
Date: 08 April 2018

Antoine Griezmann cancelled out Cristiano Ronaldo's strike as Real Madrid drew 1-1 with cross-town rivals Atletico Madrid on Sunday afternoon.
Gareth Bale returned to Zinedine Zidane's line-up while Karim Benzema had to settle for a spot on the bench.
The hosts went close to breaking the deadlock on 10 minutes as Bale picked out Ronaldo at the far post but the Portuguese failed to steer his header on target.
In the 20th minute, Atletico thought they had taken the lead when Diego Costa fired past Keylor Navas. However, the goal was ruled due to foul on Sergio Ramos in the build-up.
Costa did go close to scoring 10 minutes later, but Navas was on hand to deny the striker with a fine save just minutes of Jan Oblak denied Raphael Varane.
Real could have gone into the break with a one-goal lead but Marcelo saw his curling effort rattle against the crossbar two minutes before halftime.
Ronaldo broke the deadlock for Los Blancos eight minutes into the second with a brilliant volley past Oblak following a cross from Bale on the left wing, 1-0.
However, Griezmann got Diego Simeone’s men back into match three minutes before the hour mark with a composed finish inside the box after beating two markers to go clear, 1-1.
In the 65th minute, Navas made a fantastic save to deny Atletico the lead after Koke had connected brilliantly with a cross on the volley just moments after Zidane withdrew Ronaldo for Benzema.
Simeone’s charges had the better chances with 15 minutes left to play but the hosts were always a threat on counter-attacks.
Sergio Ramos did go close snatching a win in stoppage time, but the defender saw his free-kick tipped away by Oblak as the sides settled for a share of the spoils.
