Andres Iniesta got a winning send-off in his final game for FC Barcelona as the Catalan giants defeated Real Sociedad 1-0 thanks to a stunning strike from Philippe Coutinho.
Iniesta was handed a start in his final game for the club, while Lionel Messi was rested for the encounter.
The outgoing midfielder went close to breaking the deadlock after 10 minutes but his effort from the edge of the box sizzled inches wide of the upright.
The host squandered a good chance to break the deadlock after 18 minutes as Gerard Pique found himself unmarked int he box but he failed to trouble Miguel Ángel Moya.
Sociedad, meanwhile, did look threatening at times although they struggled to carve out chances in the final third as Marc-Andre ter Stegen endured a quiet first half.
However, the Catalan giants failed to create another opening despite dominating the possession as the sides went into the break goalless.
Ten minutes into the second half, Barca were forced into a change as Ousmane Dembele was taken off after failing to recover from a knock he picked up in the first half.
Three minutes later, the deadlock was broken as Philippe Coutinho opened the scoring with a superb effort from distance that sailed into the top corner.
With just over 20 minutes remaining, Coutinho made way for Messi, while Sergio Canales replaced Adnan Januzaj for the visitors moments earlier.
The hosts went close to doubling their lead on 77 minutes as Suarez picked out Messi, who rose well but his header was turned away by Moya.
With eight minutes remaining, Iniesta said his goodbye to the fans as he made way for Paco Alcacer.
The hosts continued to push for a second goal in the closing stages, but they were unable to carve out another chance as the encounter ended 1-0.
