Result: Atletico Madrid 1-1 Eibar
Date: 15 September 2018
Venue: Wanda Metropolitano
Atletico Madrid had to settle for point on home soil as they could only manage a 1-1 draw with Eibar in LaLiga on Saturday afternoon.
Diego Simeone's men came into the clash looking for nothing less than three points after losing 2-0 to Celta Vigo last time out.
Atletico also had to make a change in the defence as Juanfran returned to the line up after Stefan Savic was sent off in the loss to Celta.
It was no surprise to see Atletico dominate the opening 20 minutes of the encounter, although the visitors did the crossbar through Cote.
There was one way traffic in the first half, and Eibar had goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic to thank for keeping the scores level in the first half, as he pulled off a couple of crucial saves to deny Saul.
After a quiet start to the second half, the visitors went close to taking the lead in the 65th minute as Arbilla rattled the crossbar with a volley from distance.
Dmitrovic came to Eibar's rescue five minutes later, as the shot-stopper produced another good save, this time keeping out Antoine Griezmann.
Atletico threw numbers forward in search of an equaliser, but the visitors defence and Dmitrovic were showing good resolve in the closing stages.
However, the stadium was silenced with three minutes remaining as Eibar took the lead thanks to a strike from Sergi Enrich in the box.
The hosts went in search of an equaliser in the closing stages, and they were rewarded in second-half stoppage time thanks to a strike from Borja Garcés.
