Three second-half goals from Antoine Griezmann, Fernando Torres and Thomas handed Atletico Madrid a 3-0 win over Las Palmas in a Spanish LaLiga match on Sunday.
It was a slow start to the game from both teams with neither to adventurous on attack which resulted in chances on goal being few and far between.
The first real scoring chance came in the 18th minute when Atletico Madrid’s Gabi drove into the box, but he saw his low shot superbly saved by the Las Palmas keeper.
Seven minutes later the home side should have taken the lead when Antoine Griezmann met a low cross into the box with a first time shot, but he saw his effort strike the woodwork.
Las Palmas’ only decent chance of the half came in the 44th minute when a long range volley by Tana was well-saved by the Atletico keeper.
The half ended 0-0.
Atletico continued to control the flow of the play in the second half and finally made their pressure tell on the hour mark when Antoine Griezmann broke through on goal and made no mistake with just the keeper to beat, 1-0.
In the 73rd minute the home side doubled their lead when Fernando Torres met a precise pass into the box and dully fired home to make it 2-0.
The match was over as a contest in 88th minute when Thomas tapped home a pin-point perfect pass from Yannick Carrasco at close range, 3-0.
