Spanish La Liga
Full Time: Atletico Madrid 3-0 Celta Vigo
Date: 11 March 2018
Venue: Wanda Metropolitano Stadium
An impressive display from Atletico Madrid saw them register a comfortable 3-0 win over Celta Vigo in a Spanish La Liga match at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Sunday evening.
Atletico controlled the flow of play from the onset but they struggled to break down a stubborn Celta Vigo defence.
The first real chance on goal came in the 17th minute when Sime Vrsaljko got onto the end of a cross from the right, but he volleyed wide from 12-yards out.
The home side came close to scoring again on the half-hour mark when Diego Godin met a well-placed corner-kick, but his header shaved the wrong side of the crossbar.
Atletico continued to push forward and were finally rewarded for their efforts a minute before the break when Antoine Griezmann found himself in the right place at the right time to tap home a rebound from close range, 1-0.
Ten minutes into the second half and the home side doubled their lead when Victor Vitolo latched onto an inch-perfect through ball from Antoine Griezmann and made no mistake with just the keeper to beat, 2-0.
In the 63rd minute, the home side found the back of the net again after some superb skill inside the box by Angel Correa saw him create space for himself before firing home from 14-yards out, 3-0.
Atletico took their foot off the pedal after that and Celta Vigo tried to find their way back into the match, but they were unable to do so as the match ended 3-0.
