A shock report has suggested that new Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez wants to sign Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah, who has still not signed a new contract in England.
According to Spanish publication El Nacional, the Egypt international has appeared at the top of Xavi's transfer shortlist in his bid to rebuild the LaLiga giants.
Salah is yet to commit his future to the Reds amid rumours he wants to be made one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League.
The 29-year-old's current deal at Liverpool expires in 2023, with it being well-known that the Merseyside club does not traditionally hand big long-term deals to players nearing or in their thirties.
While it could be true that there is genuine interest in Salah from Barca, a move for him will likely depend on the Blaugrana's financial situation, with the club believed to be in a huge amount of debt.
