Real Madrid icon Ronaldo Nazario believes his former club made a big mistake letting African international Achraf Hakimi leave for Inter Milan in the way he did.
The Morocco right-back joined the Italian giants from Los Blancos in September last year, following a two-year loan spell at Borussia Dortmund between 2018 and 2020.
Since his arrival in Italy, Hakimi has contributed to an impressive 11 goals in 24 appearances across all competitions under manager Antonio Conte, and Ronaldo believes Real made a mistake allowing him to leave in the way he left.
"Achraf is an extraordinary player, Real Madrid got it wrong by losing him like that," the Brazil legend told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"Sometimes I think what would've happened had we played together, at such speed.
"He's one of the biggest home runs for Inter in the last 10 years."
Hakimi was said to be sold to raise funds during the coronavirus pandemic after manager Zinedine Zidane admitted that some transfers work as necessities.
The 22-year-old's move to the Nerazzurri was reportedly worth €40 million (R738 million), which was considered a relatively low price in relation to the fullback's potential.
