FC Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has responded to reports that the Blaugrana are unable to pay their players.
Spanish outlet Cadena Cope recently reported that the Catalan giants were unable to make player salary payments in December even after the first team agreed to lower their wages.
Koeman has since admitted he is well aware of the club's financial troubles, but could not provide an answer with regards to the players not being paid last month.
"Barca suffers a lot because of the COVID and it influences the economic situation of the club to play without fans and also because of the fall in tourism," Koeman said at a press conference, as per Goal.
"I see the players involved in work and who are not worried about this issue I do not know if the players charge too much, the club offers contracts and the players accept them.
"We have all helped the club by lowering the salary. I do not know if it is true if they have charged and I cannot answer."
Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font added that they are not surprised by the recent figures being released.
"Nothing that has been made public in recent hours has surprised us at all. We have been warning for a long time that this is reality and that is why it is essential to have a project," he was quoted as saying by Diario Sport.
