The Dutchman oversaw his second victory in as many friendly games when the Blaugrana beat Girona 3-1 this week.
Suarez, though, was one of the players not in the squad for the match, and Koeman has since revealed that the Uruguayan is still undecided about his future.
"I've spoken to him about his future and we are waiting to see whether or not he leaves, we still don't know," Koeman told Catalan network TV3.
"But we respect every contract here and if, in the end, he does not find a club and he stays, he will be just like any other player in the squad."
Koeman also commented on Coutinho, who will seemingly play a big role for the Dutchman going forward after scoring in both of the Blaugrana's pre-season friendlies.
"He's in high spirits at the moment," the coach said of Coutinho.
"He's training and playing well.
"He has great quality and we have to bear in mind that he needs the support of his coach and fans."
