A new report has come out suggesting that Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to pay €270 million (R4.2 billion) for a Brazil star, who featured at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
According to El Mundo Deportivo, the French side are considering signing FC Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho, in a bid to keep Neymar happy in Paris.
The former Santos has been linked with a return to LaLiga in recent months, and it is being reported that Real Madrid are the ones keen on bringing the forward back to Spain.
Coutinho, who is a close friend of the 26-year-old, became Blaugrana most expensive signing in January, as he joined the Spanish giants from Liverpool for an estimated fee of around €15 0million (R2.36 billion).
The former Inter Milan midfielder, who is contracted until 2023 at the Camp Nou, is believed to have a release clause which stands at €400 million (R6.29 billion) and it is unlikely that the French club can offer that with the FIFA Financial Fairplay investigations happening.
PSG believe that they may be able to tempt the Catalan club to sell them, Coutinho, with an offer of around €270 million (R4.2 billion), but it is a far stretch according to some media houses.
The former Liverpool star made 22 appearances for the Spanish club last season, scoring 10 and assisting in a further six more.
