Umtiti is said to be unsettled in Spain due to his current contract situation, with the club yet to offer him a bumper new deal to ensure he stays at Barca.
According to Diario Sport, the Catalan giants have made contact with Sevilla's 22-year-old central defender Clement Lenglet.
The defender has impressed in Spain this season, and also looked comfortable playing in Europe's biggest club competition, the UEFA Champions League. Many teams are said to be after the Frenchman, who reportedly has a €45 million (R672 million) release clause.
Sport recently reported that the Blaugrana are also interested in Bayern Munich's David Alaba, whose versatility has seen him play in defence, central midfield, as well as on the left wing over the past few seasons.
It has also been claimed that the Spanish giants have looked into the possibility of signing Manchester United's Daley Blind and Luke Shaw. With both players predominantly playing left-back, however, it seems highly unlikely the club will target both stars.
Bayer Leverkusen's South African-born defender Panagiotis Retsos has also been monitored by the club in recent months.
