Reports: FC Barcelona Trying To Hijack Brazilian's Transfer
News coming out of Italy suggests that Spanish giants FC Barcelona have reportedly tried to hijack a transfer involving a Brazilian forward at the 11th hour.
Ligue 1 starlet Malcom was said to be on the verge of boarding a plane to Serie A side AS Roma before his club, Bordeaux, apparently cancelled the flight at the last minute.
According to Sky Sports in Italy, Barcelona have now entered the race to sign the highly-rated 21-year-old, who scored 12 goals in 38 appearances for his club last season.
Bordeaux announced on Monday night that they had reached an agreement with Roma to sign the Brazilian, subject to the player completing a medical and agreeing personal terms with the Italian side.
"FC Girondins de Bordeaux informs you that an agreement has been reached, subject to the signature of the administrative documents, with AS Roma for the transfer of Malcom," the French club said in a statement on their official website.
The winger has been linked with the Blaugrana before, it has been claimed that scouts were sent to watch him last season. However, it is not until now that the club has contacted his representatives.
A move for Malcom could be the result of the difficulties the Catalan club has encountered in their attempts to sign Willian from Chelsea, who have reportedly rejected a number of bids for the Brazil international.
Malcom, a former Corinthians star, has made 96 appearances for Bordeaux since joining the club in 2016, scoring 23 goals and assisting a further 16 strikes.
