It is believed that Spanish giants FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with a Dutch star who is reportedly a massive fan of superstar Lionel Messi.
According to Sport, the Catalans have reached an agreement with Ajax Amsterdam over the sale of midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
However, it is believed the 21-year-old will only join the Blaugrana this month if the Dutch side fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, whereas if they do qualify, he will only move to Barca next season.
De Jong is said to be a huge fan of the Spanish giants' all-time record goalscorer Messi, and apparently feels he will be taking a big step forward by joining the LaLiga giants.
Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars, who once played for Barca himself, is believed to have given the green light in the negotiations between the two clubs.
With the young midfielder's current contract in Holland only expiring in 2022, he will reportedly honour his club's wishes for him to stay if they do qualify for the Champions League.
Ajax host Standard Liege for the return fixture of their third round play-offs next week Tuesday, with the first leg having ended in a 2-2 draw.
De Jong has played in all three of his club's qualifiers so far, and will undoubtedly play an important role in their match next week.
